Writer/Producer Tom Malloy got the idea for this film after watching a dance competition in 1999 that was won by Jeremy Doss, a deaf West Coast Swing dancer. I met him at Boston tea party last year, and I'm glad he's on the project. I think this movie will help create awareness for swing dancing, so I'm all for encouraging it. Now when will us Lindy Hoppers produce our own movie? Mmm.. that might be an interesting opportunity. But then again, "Swing Kids" has already been done, and so has "Malcolm X". So it has the advantage of experts rather than a few suits who think something can sell. The majority of extras are also WCS dancers. Robert encouraged people to fly to New Mexico where they were filming, they had free food and $40/night hotel rooms. Roberts wife, Nicola, has a supporting role as well (and yes, she is a dancer). The plot is a bit typical, but it sounds to be cute, entertaining, and with good dancing it spreads the word.
